Chikamatsu Monzaemon, known as Japan’s Shakespeare,
wrote the masterpiece, The Love Suicides at Amijima…The scene where the heroine Koharu meets her hairdresser Otsuna for the final time was added especially for Miyako Itchu I. It’s called the Koharu Kami Yui no Dan.
